Movement and the mind

When I’m away from running for a while, I forget just how much it does for my mental health.

And then I step out of the door and I can just feel the stresses easing with every stride. Not vanishing, but becoming lighter and easier to carry.

Any movement helps, but moving through nature always seems most powerful.

I’m never quite sure what causes this effect.

The blood flowing through body and brain?

The rush of fresh air?

The sense of controlling my own journey?

The perspective from the wide horizon?

All of them together?

But whatever it is, I am grateful for the magic of movement and the ease it brings me.

Running might not be your thing. But I’m sure there’s something that could work the same magic for you that running does for me. Would you like to find it?
