While I’m an experienced coach, I’m still new to personal training. However, I’m building a strong foundation of skills and experience through working towards my level 4 Personal Training qualification. And I firmly believe that my years of coaching experience is a huge asset and deepens my offer as a personal trainer.

In his book on Advanced Personal Training, Paul Hough strongly emphasises that “Clients must be empowered to take an active role in their own health/fitness rather than passively following advice, which is unlikely to be an effective long term strategy.” This really resonates with my approach to coaching, and will carry through into my personal training.

As a personal trainer, my coaching skills help me put you in the driving seat, starting by exploring your goals and your options in depth, helping you build motivation that lasts. I also help you to plan how to fit training into your life as effortlessly as possible, spotting and planning for things that might derail you. This will generally mean spending a little bit more time outside the gym thinking and planning so we get the right goals and programme that makes the most of your precious training time.
