I love walking out from the gym through the cafe at Fareham Leisure Centre. Most times of the day there’s a real buzz to the place.
There’s often a toddler or two dashing around, still damp-haired from the splash pad or bouncing with excitement from soft play. Plus lots of parents enjoying a quiet coffee and moment of respite while their little ones wear themselves out and learn lifesaving skills in a swimming lesson.
In another corner, there’s a personal trainer having an intent conversation with their client, helping them zero in on their goals and work out what they need to make serious progress.
Across from them, there’s a group of women who are clearly thriving in retirement, yoga mats hanging from the backs of their chairs as they enjoy a post class drink, the laughter and company clearly doing them just as much good as the yoga.
And over by the vending machine, someone who looks like they’ve just done a really tough workout in Fortis or a spin class, getting in some much needed fuel and hydration.
For me the cafe is a place where you can really see the Much More approach in action – FLC is a place that doesn’t just give people the tools they need to work out, but a community to do it in. A place I’m happy to be part of as I help people change not just their fitness, but their lives.
