Why does coaching help?

Why does coaching make a difference? I was reflecting on that after a coaching session with Rachel Lee today. https://www.borntobebold.co.uk/

Everyone is different, but for me it comes down to saying two things out loud:

– what I really want to achieve

– what I’m prepared to do to make it happen

And in theory I could do that alone. But with a good coach, I find I’m more likely not just to admit what I really want to do next, but actually to make it happen.

Most coaching sessions begin by being clear what our goals are. And that’s not always easy – so many of us have spent years dreaming small because we fear disappointment, or because the needs of young kids took priority.

But life changes can open up new opportunities, and after a while the risks of dreaming too big seem to matter less than the risks of dreaming too small.

I’ve turned to coaches at key times in my life, and they’ve helped in so many ways – a safe and structured space to reflect, the right blend of support and challenge, and questions that opened up new possibilities.

But I mostly seek out coaching for myself when I need a space where I dare to dream a bit bigger.

So what dreams do you have that you’d like to bring into the world? And what support would help you get there?
